Dr. Taufique Joader completed his MBBS from Dinajpur Medical College under University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh in 2007 and his MPH from James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2008 with Highest Distinction. He also won Allan Rosenfield Award for best overall performance. He completed Diploma in International Health and Policy Evaluation from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands. He is also trained in Development Studies from University of Dhaka, Bangladesh
Currently he is pursuing doctoral studies (DrPH) in Department of International Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He is a recipient of ‘Fogarty International Fellowship’, and a winner of ‘Emerging Voices for Global Health, 2010’ international scientific essay competition.
His research areas include health systems, medical anthropology, health policy, infectious diseases, and elderly health.
He was one of the founding members of UNYSAB and has been involved since its inception in 2001. He served as the President of the Organization in 2006-2007, and has been acting as the Vice-chair of the Board of Trustees ever since.
He wants to promote global leadership from among the UNYSAB members. He encourages the youths of Bangladesh to dare to seize their dreams. As a firm believer in the principles of equity and social justice, he thinks that youths of Bangladesh can contribute to the global development if provided with equal opportunity and proper training.
Sharmin Islam Suborna completed her BSS degree in the Department of International Relations from University of Dhaka, MSS degree in the Department of Women’s Studies from University of Dhaka and achieved a MA degree in Development Studies (Major in Women, Gender and Development) from the Institute of Social Studies at The Hague, The Netherlands. Currently she is working with NETZ Bangladesh, a German NGO as a Program Manager in Human Rights and Advocacy program.
Sharmin Islam worked as Cultural Secretary of UN Youth and Student Association of Bangladesh from 2002 till 2006. She had an experience of long five years of volunteering in various programs with United Nations Information Centre.
She worked as a Presenter with ‘ETV’ in a series program called ‘PothePrantore’ telecasted in 2005 and as a Presenter with the ATN Bangla in a special program on PohelaBoysakh entitled ‘BoysakhGhoreGhore’ telecasted at the same year. This wonderful culturally sound lady has completed her 8 years course on ‘Najrul Song’ from ‘SayanotSangitBiddyaton’. She was the champion in 2012 and runner-up in 2011 at the “Literary and Cultural Week” organized by Kuwait-Moitry Hall, Dhaka University and organized by Kuwait-Moitry Hall, Dhaka University.
Nafiz Imtiaz completed his B.S.S. (Honors) & MS.S in Economics, University of Dhaka and M.B.A. (Major in Banking) from University of Dhaka. In his professional life, he is currently holding the position of ‘International Graduate’ at the Standard Chartered Bank. He is also a freelance News Presenter at one of the most popular private TV Channel in the country.
NafizImtiaz was the president of United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) from January 2009 to January 2013. Due to his sincere efforts and commitments towards voluntarism together with his leadership quality, he was a Director of the organization in 2005, the Vice President in 2007 and the third President in 2009.
NafizImtiaz is a remarkable leadership talent. He had a tremendous contribution in the development of youth and voluntarism in Bangladesh. He has not only popularized the concept of voluntarism among the youth, but also negotiated the youth issues at the policy level. As recognition of his work, he was selected as the Youth Ambassador of the Asia Pacific Youth Network. The concept of organizing 1st ever SAARC Youth Camp to develop partnership, communication and exchange among the youth of South Asia was his brain child. In 2007, he was selected by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to lead the organizing of the 1st ever SAARC Youth Camp. The Dhaka declaration, developed by the youth at the camp, was later accepted by the South Asian Association of Regional Cooperation (SAARC) secretariat which was a huge achievement.
In his leadership, UNYSAB has popularized the concept of Model UN Conferences not only in Bangladesh but also in the entire South Asia. Hence, Bangladesh is a well-known name in the Global MUN community. Nafiz’s team won the ‘Best Delegation Award’ in the Asian International Model UN Conference, Beijing, China in 2006 and that was the first time for a team from Bangladesh to win any international award in MUN Conferences.
Even in 2006, it was only UNYSAB to organize MUN in Bangladesh. Due to the restless initiatives taken by the UNYSAB members, today, all leading public and private universities, colleges and schools are either practicing or organizing MUN in the country.
Since his joining in UNYSAB in 2001, he has proactively initiated a number of campaigns involving the youth to ensure social justice. He was the youth focal point of the United Nations Millennium Campaign (UNMC) for the MDG awareness programs and for organizing the poverty elevation movement named ‘Stand Up against Poverty’ in Bangladesh. The demonstration led by him to mark the International Day for Poverty Elevation 2007 created a world record.
Nafiz is a very popular mentor among the young people. Other than UNYSAB, he has also been involved with other youth led organizations such as the ACTIVISTA Bangladesh, Junior Chamber International Bangladesh, the Green Volunteers, the Earth, Quantum Foundation and the Asia Pacific Youth Network.
Sheikh Mohd. Erfan Uddin completed his Honors & Master, Department of International Relations from University of Dhaka. Now he did his MBA in School of Business Administration and Management from University of North America, Virginia, USA.
Sheikh Erfaninvolved with UNYSAB from 2003 when he was in Notre Dame Debating Club but he was actively involved from 2006 BANMUN. As an inspiration of working in UNYSAB, he mentioned three names and they are ShaikhImtiaz, TaufiqeJoardar&NafizImtiaz. All his student life he practiced leadership and was highly involved with many social activities. He is the proud founder president of Dhaka University Model United Nations Association (DUMUNA).
Sheikh Erfanis one of the best MUNer of Bangladesh. At that time when Bangladesh was unknown about MUN, he was the most experienced MUNer who did the maximum international MUN and successfully represented Bangladesh with pride. Among the different international MUN’s around the world includes NAMUN in Canada, GMUN in Switzerland, and NMUN in New York.
He feels proud totrain and to produce brilliant and renowned MUNer of Bangladesh. He organized and was involved with almost every eventin UNYSAB from 2006. As a result of this successful leader, he was the core team member of SAARC youth camp 2007, joint coordinator of Ribbon Run 2007 funded by UNAIDS, coordinator of STAND Up events several times (youth focal point of 2008 STAND Up event), Secretary General of Bangladesh National MUN 2011 organized by UNYSAB. He was a cadet under officer at Naval Wing of BNCC Dhaka University Contingent, a member of UNFPA funded National Youth Forum and an asst. senior patrol leader at Uttara High School Scouts.
UNYSAB are gratefully to his contribution in many ways. His hard work and wonderful leadership leads the organization to success. He was the initiator of all UNYSAB beginning publications and very first ID card. He was the editor and designer as well of UNYSAB’s first publication. He used to maintain the IT sector i.e. first website, Facebook page and groups. As he was very organized person he also take care of the administrational parts i.e. official writing pad, money receipt, maintaining membership profile and EC profile, UNYSAB’s unique phone no idea, official bank account etc. Under his supervision UNYSAB have seen many success. He planned and contributed to massive spread out of MUN clubs and wings.
One day he wants to see UNYSAB as one of the top most youth platforms for nurturing youths.
K.M. Zakir Hassan (Titash) had completed his graduation and Post-Graduation from Jahangirnagar University. In his professional life, he is currently holding the position of “Assistant Manager” at a commercial Bank.
He always thinks that volunteerism is one of the best ways to make positive change in the society. Volunteerism is also the most influential means by which difficulty can be achieved and will leave a footprint to the magnitude.
From his early student life, he started practicing leadership and implicated at so many social and community wellbeing initiative. This objective to do something positive for the society was the basic motivational aspect to join United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB).
He started his journey with UNYSAB since he was a college student at the year of 2003. With great passion and love he took every event of this organization as a challenge and lead UNYSAB to meet triumph. Apart from his wonderful organizational skills, he used to inspire members to work for the betterment of the association.
This fervent workaholic MUNer was the Former Senior Vice-President at the year of 2011-12.
His leadership in the organization created a great impact which helped UNYSAB to make young leader with enthusiasm. Besides of his leadership skills, he has very good MUNing Experience. He did participate in few international MUN i.e.
World Model United Nations, Australia, NUJS Model UN, India and Chaotana Bharoti Model Un of India and many more local and international MUN.
He believes UNYSAB helps the way to become skilled at different belongings, gather experience and progress one’sefficiency, helps to reflect one’s aptitude and also gives encouragement to accomplish his vision. According to his voice “I wish that all kind of activities will be sustained and UNYSAB will walk off to the better high than ever”
Mohammad Mamun Mia is the current President of UNYSAB. He has completed his Honors and Masters degree from the Department of International Relations (IR) from University of Dhaka. He was the President at Dhaka University Model United Nations Association in 2011-2012. He worked as a Mentor at Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction Project. He is currently working with Democratic Budget Movement.
He started his journey at UNYSAB in 2007. Since then he attended most of the major events of UNYSAB. He did major responsibilities like national coordinator of stand up & take action, signature campaign, World Environment Day celebration, Zero Hunger Challenge, Under Secretary General of Conference Management at Bangladesh international Model United Nations conference (BIMUN) 2012, Secretary General of Brainwiz MUN 2013 etc. Mohammad represented UNYSAB in various international Model Unite Nations (MUN) conferences such as- GMUN, AMUNC, Harvard MUN, CBIT MUN etc. He also participated in the “Global Change” course offered by Action Aid in Nepal.
Mohammad leaded UNYSAB in various round table discussions and youth events. He is working for under privileged Childs and developing Bangladeshi student’s leadership quality. Mohammad Mia thinks that UNYSAB is a platform from where any Bangladeshi youth can practice leadership and work for the betterment of the society. His vision regarding UNYSAB is one day in every district; every school of Bangladesh UNYSAB will take a place for the betterment of youth and society. And UNYSAB would become an organization which functions from each educational institution of Bangladesh and youth of the country contributing in the socio-economic development of the country in a greater extent.
