BANMUN - 2015

UNYSAB organized the seventh session of BANMUN, which was attended by 571 students, making the conference the largest MUN in 2015. The seventh session of the oldest model United Nations conference of the country, BANMUN, was held at the Adamjee Cantonment College from July 29 to August 1, 2015. BANMUN 2015 was held under the theme “Role of Youth in Community Development” to let the participants, mostly high school students, think of the pros and cons of youth involvement in development policy making. 

The conference was inaugurated by Honourable State Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mr. Md. Shahriar Alam, MP who was the chief guest of the ceremony. Among others Honorable Member of the Parliamentary Standing committee on Youth and Sports, Mr. Nahim Razzaq, MP and Principle of Adamjee Cantonment College, Brigadier General Tameem Ahmed Chowdhury (OSP, NDC, PSC) was present in the ceremony as the special guest. BANMUN 2015 had ten committees: Economic & Financial Committee, International Monetary Fund, UN Security Council, Social Cultural and Humanitarian Committee, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Environmental Programme, UN Human Rights Council, World Health Organization, World Trade Organization, and Nobel Laureates. 

BANMUN 2015 invited the Director (UN) of Foreign Affairs ministry, Mr Faiyaz Murshid Kazi, as the dignitary who discussed his experience with the delegates. The curtain of the conference was drawn over in the presence of Honorable State Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Nasrul Hamid MP and the Secretary General of BANMUN 2015 Mohammad Mamun Mia who awarded the best delegates and other awardees, appreciating their performances. Among others, UNIC Officer-in-Charge M. Moniruzzaman was present.
