Dr. Imtiaz is currently working as an A Professor at the Department of Women and Gender Studies, University of Dhaka. He has achieved his PhD degree from the Amsterdam Institute of Social Science Research, University of Amsterdam in 2012 and joint a multidisciplinary research team at Vanderbilt University, USA as a Post-Doctoral Research Fellow.
Dr Imtiaz has worked as a consultant for different projects of the Government of Bangladesh, UNFPA, UNDP, IDLO, WHO,CARE Bangladesh and KOIKA etc. As a youth activist he set up the United Nations Youth and Students Association of Bangladesh (UNYSAB) when he was an undergraduate student and organized several campaigns involving youth on different issues. He has also planned, scripted and hosted a television reality show for promoting social work through voluntarism involving youth called ‘the Campus Hero’ which was telecasted in 2012 in the Channel I – a Bengali satellite channel of Bangladesh. Recently he has set up a research based organization to work on masculinities and youth development named ‘Center for Men and Masculinities Studies”. He is also the author of several articles and books.

Nahim Razzak, MP

Mr. Nahim Razzaq is one of the youngest Members of Parliament in the Bangladesh National Parliament at present. He was elected by Sariatpur 3 constituency in 2013 in the by-election after the death of his father late Abdur Razzaq who is a national leader, one of the founding student activist pre-independence, a freedom fighter, and an organizer, 2 times elected general secretary of Bangladesh Awami League, 5 times a member of parliament, former minister of Water Resources.
Nahim Razzaq MP is one of the youngest lawmakers of Bangladesh with the experience of working in the field of Youth Development in different capacities. He is also a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Convener of Young Bangla – National Youth Platform, member of the Parliamentary Caucus for Children Rights Development, and adviser of E-commerce Association of Bangladesh (e-cab). Nahim Razzaq completed B.A. Honors in Marketing and Business from Middlesex University, London, UK, and then went on to finish his Post-Graduate Diploma on Marketing from Kingston University, Surrey, UK.
Nahim Razzaq believes in engaging the youth population in the decision-making process both in the public and private sectors. The Young Bangla Youth Platform hence does the facilitation in bridging the relationship between various social initiatives. For his role in youth development, he received the Junior Chamber International- Top 10 Outstanding Young Person (TOYP) award in 2015 in Bangladesh.

Taufique Joader Ph.D. completed his MBBS from Dinajpur Medical College under the University of Rajshahi, Bangladesh in 2007 and his MPH from James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, Dhaka, Bangladesh in 2008 with Highest Distinction. He also won the Allan Rosenfield Award for the best overall performance. He completed a Diploma in International Health and Policy Evaluation from Erasmus University, Rotterdam, Netherlands, and a Doctorate in Public Health (DrPH) from the Department of International Health (Health Systems), Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, Baltimore, Maryland, USA. He is a recipient of ‘Fogarty International Fellowship’, and a winner of ‘Emerging Voices for Global Health, 2010’ international science essay competition, organized by the Institute of Tropical Medicine, Antwerp, Belgium.
In career life, Dr. Joarder is the Research Director of an implementation research project run by Family Health International (FHI 360), Bangladesh Office. Before joining FHI 360, he worked as an Assistant Professor at BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, BRAC University, Bangladesh. Additionally, he has been involved as an Associate Faculty at the Health Systems Program of Department of International Health, Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, USA; Adjunct Faculty at BRAC James P Grant School of Public Health, Bangladesh; and Associate Professor (Part-time) at Department of Public Health, North South University, Bangladesh. He is also serving as the Executive Director of Public Health Foundation, Bangladesh; and Associate Editor of BMC Globalization and Health journal.
His areas of interest include health policy, health systems, human resources for health, global health, nutrition policy, medical anthropology, mixed methods research, implementation science, psychometrics, and youth empowerment. He is one of the founding members of UNYSAB and has been involved since its inception in 2001. He served as the President at UNYSAB in 2006-2007. And he has been acting as the Co-Chairperson of the Board of Trustees ever since.
He wants to promote global leadership from among the UNYSAB members. He encourages the youths of Bangladesh to dare to seize their dreams. As a firm believer in the principles of equity and social justice, he thinks that the youths of Bangladesh can contribute to global development if provided with equal opportunity and proper training.

Shammy Wadud

Shammy Wadud is one of the founding members of UNYSAB and currently serving as the President of UNYSAB.
She was trained as a broadcaster from Ecole de Cinema. She has 10 years of excellence working as a broadcaster with the leading Television Channels in Bangladesh (both On Screen and Off Screen). After that, she has decided to enter into the entrepreneurship arena, and now is serving as a Managing Director of an India-Bangladesh joint venture, to serve the international patient services all over India.
She decided to start this “Medical Services” business after taking treatment for 2 years in South India as an International Patient during a battle against Cancer; and after winning the battle she has decided to contribute as much as possible for a better world. She is also one of the pioneer social dancers in Bangladesh. She has participated in a number of seminars and workshops with UNDP, UNIC, UNAB, UNYSAB, CAMPE and many more.
She is the first Female Bangladeshi Delegate to participate in “1st WFUNA (World Federation of United Nations Association) Model United Nations Conference”, Hosted by UNA China & Foreign Affairs of China for the Asia and Pacific region on Millennium Development Goals 2015 in Beijing, China on August 2004.
She also headed the delegation which participated in the “3rd WFUNA (World Federation of United Nations Association) Model United Nations Conference”, Hosted by UNA Republic of Korea & Incheon Metropolitan City for the Asia and Pacific region on Millennium Development Goals 2015 in Incheon, Republic of Korea on August 2008.

NABEERA RAHMAN

Nabeera Rahman has been involved in UNYSAB since 2007. She joined as a member and eventually led the organization as its Vice-President between 2014-2016. Her key contributions to UNYSAB include designing and leading the “Hijra Empowerment Project,” “Project Rickshaw Pullers,” and organizing Model United Nations conferences and workshops in Dhaka.
She strongly believes that UNYSAB played a key role to develop valuable skills, knowledge and networks which has led her to a successful career path. She has worked with UN organizations such as UNDP, UNV and UNFPA on inclusive trade, gender equality and innovation. At UNDP, she initiated and led a research project to understand the multidimensional aspects of poverty affecting hijras. The research publication, Hijra Lives in Bangladesh, was launched in collaboration with Bangladesh’s National Human Rights Commission to raise awareness about the policy needs of this marginalized community.
She is currently employed with the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank Group and leads a skills development program for the ready-made garment sector.

Md. Iftekharul Amin

Md. Iftekharul Amin is an expert in quantitative research and analysis. He has completed his graduation in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Dhaka. He also obtained his MBA from the Institute of Business Administration (IBA), University of Dhaka. Currently, he is a faculty member of IBA, University of Dhaka, and also the Warden of IBA Hostel. Before joining at IBA, Mr. Iftekhar worked as an Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate and served at different capacities at different administrative departments of the Government of Bangladesh.
After joining at IBA, Md. Iftekharul Amin worked in different research projects. As a quantitative researcher, he worked in different research projects of development organizations like UNFPA, CARE, WHO. He was a team member for preparing a strategic plan (2011-2013) for the Bangladesh Police. As a lead researcher, he has also conducted a number of marketing research projects for different private organizations. In the Real Estate sector, he led the research team for conducting a comprehensive study on the Real Estate Sector of Bangladesh sponsored by the Real Estate and Housing Association of Bangladesh (REHAB). He also worked as the team leader of the research team for assessing the market demand for serviced apartments in the Gulshan, Banani, and Baridhara area in Dhaka city. Besides, as a coordinator and team member, he has been involved in a number of recruitment tests and selection processes in different private and public sector organizations. As a coordinator and trainer, he also manages the Business Research Methods and Integrated Marketing Communication courses and the Marketing Modules of Advanced Certificate in Business Administration (ACBA) and Advanced Certificate for Management Professionals (ACMP) courses under the Management Development Program (MDP), IBA.
As an academician, he is involved in different research projects and has published a number of research papers in different journals. His area of expertise includes Marketing Research, Consumer Behavior, E-Commerce, and Management Information Systems.

Kizzy Tahnin

Kizzy Tahnin is working as a Culture Programme Officer at UNESCO Bangladesh. She had always been interested in culture and heritage. However, it was during her second Master’s studies (Master of Environment and Sustainability) at Monash University that its full significance came to light, igniting her passion for working in this field. She has completed undergraduate and another Master degree in Economics, from Dhaka University, Bangladesh.
She is an experienced professional in project management, sustainable development and communication sectors in United Nations organization (UNESCO), national and international organizations.
She had actively been involved with the United Nations Youth Association of Bangladesh as one of the founding Committee Members. She developed a short film for UNYSAB as a project, which was projected in different international United Nations Youth Programs.

Sharmin Islam
Trustee Member
Sharmin Islam is working with UNDP as a Women’s Economic Empowerment Specialist. She is involved in working with different human rights issues with a specific focus on women’s rights and the rights of most marginalized people in Bangladesh during the last 9 years being involved with UNDP, NETZ Bangladesh, and CMMS (Center for Men and Masculinities Studies).
She studied International Relations and Women and Gender Studies at the University of Dhaka and Development Studies (Major in Women Gender and Development) at the Institute of Social Studies (ISS) in The Netherlands. Sharmin is an enlisted singer at Bangladesh Television and Bangladesh Betar.
While studying at university she was also involved in cultural activism and achieved various awards in different cultural competitions. Currently, Sharmin is involved in works focusing on empowerment of women entrepreneurs at the local level by unlocking local financial resources to contribute in achieving inclusive and equitable development that leaves no one behind.

Mohammad Mamun Mia

Mohammad Mamun Mia is a former President of UNYSAB served from 2013 – 2018. He has completed his Honors and Masters degree from the Department of International Relations (IR) from University of Dhaka. He was the President at Dhaka University Model United Nations Association in 2011-2012. He worked as a Mentor at Climate Change Adaptation and Disaster Risk Reduction Project. He is currently working with Democratic Budget Movement.
He started his journey at UNYSAB in 2007. Since then he attended most of the major events of UNYSAB. He did major responsibilities like national coordinator of stand up & take action, signature campaign, World Environment Day celebration, Zero Hunger Challenge, Under Secretary General of Conference Management at Bangladesh international Model United Nations conference (BIMUN) 2012, Secretary General of Brainwiz MUN 2013 etc. Mohammad represented UNYSAB in various international Model Unite Nations (MUN) conferences such as- GMUN, AMUNC, Harvard MUN, CBIT MUN etc. He also participated in the “Global Change” course offered by Action Aid in Nepal.
Mohammad leaded UNYSAB in various round table discussions and youth events. He is working for under privileged Childs and developing Bangladeshi student’s leadership quality. Mohammad Mia thinks that UNYSAB is a platform from where any Bangladeshi youth can practice leadership and work for the betterment of the society. His vision regarding UNYSAB is one day in every district; every school of Bangladesh UNYSAB will take a place for the betterment of youth and society. And UNYSAB would become an organization which functions from each educational institution of Bangladesh and youth of the country contributing in the socio-economic development of the country in a greater extent.

Nafiz Imtiaz

Former President of the organization, Mr. Nafiz Imtiaz is currently working at the Royal Bank of Canada in the capacity of Manager, AML Insights, and Analytics. Nafiz Imtiaz’s excellent academic career includes a Masters in Leadership from the University of Guelph, a Masters of Business Administration in Banking from the University of Dhaka and another Masters of Social Science in Economics from the University for Dhaka.
Amid having an attractive academic background, Mr. Nafiz Imtiaz has ventured into the field of volunteering and social good. He joined UNYSAB in 2001 and rose to the prominence showing enviable capability. He served as the President of the organization from January 2009 to January 2013.
Besides that, his volunteering experience includes, working with the Plan International Canada, Junior Achievement Canada – educating young people through lifeskill training, ACTIVISTA Bangladesh, Junior Chamber International Bangladesh, the Green Volunteers, the Earth, Quantum Foundation and the Asia Pacific Youth Network.
