Rally of The Brave

Centre for Men and Masculinities Studies, National Human Rights Commission (NHRC) and United Nations Development Program (UNDP) jointly organised a series of activism on December 9 to mark the International Human Rights Day with the theme “End Violence against Women and Girls: Leave No One Behind.”

The activities of the day included a grand rally of 100 youth, a flash mob, a bicycle rally, and meme exhibition.The activism was initiated by launching the rally from Dhaka University’s TSC at 11:30 am headed by Dr. Syed Saikh Imtiaz, Chairperson, Department of Women and Gender Studies and executives of UNDP and NHRC. The rally paraded through the University of Dhaka campus, Shaheed Meenar and ended at TSC. There, Dr. Sayed Saikh Imtiaz delivered short inspiring speeches to the students and shared this experiences with the youth. In his inspiring speech, Dr. Imtiaz said, “These youth will be the torch bearer of a violence-free society. By their efforts, Bangladesh will be the country free from any violence against women and girls”.


Innovative events like flash mob, meme exhibition, and cycle rally were made to spread the message of Brave Men Campaign. All the participants wore white t-shirts and carried colorful posters with inspiring messages and banners. The planned action intends to inform, spotlight, and raise awareness among men and boys about gender- based violence under the theme “Leave No One Behind: End Violence against Women and Girls”. The initiative was part of a 16-day-long global campaign which aims to eliminate violence against women and girls. This international program is led by UNiTE aiming to raise public awareness and mobilizing people everywhere to bring about change in the society, starting from 25th November to 10th December, which is Human Rights Day. This year the initiative was taken to eradicate the discrimination of gender and violence against women and girls.
